ARTIST STATEMENT

I did not realize how profoundly art could change me until I began reflecting on my childhood experiences with it. As a kid, I was drawn to the colors and movements of my favorite Saturday morning cartoon characters, often thinking about how those characters were brought to life. This curiosity led me to take painting classes at a modern art museum, where I began to understand art as something more than just entertainment and instead meaningful storytelling. We live in an era where digital tools and social media make artistic creations more accessible. In this environment of creativity, I aim to explore and share new artistic techniques with others who are looking to expand their creativity.

I hope to bridge the gap between passion and profession by highlighting how to bring energy and life into motion graphics, character animation, and graphic design. I am fully dedicated to the craft of digital art, driven by the visual wonders I have experienced as a child and supported by the technical foundations of storytelling through motion. Through my years of work, I look to create and experience meaningful visual narratives built for the digital industry.

ARTISTIC TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

Art has been part of my life ever since I was little. Growing up I was always watching my favorite cartoon shows on TV and wondered what it would it be like to be like artists that made those cartoon movies that I grew up watching. As I started to grow up, I started taking art classes at the local art museum. There I learned about basic art skills like sketching and painting. When I was in high-school I was passionate about art, but I did not know where I could pursue a career in art. I was recommended to take classes at CalArts Summer Program. There I learned how to do animation on paper and learn different software students can use to make their animations come to life. Going to CalArts completely changed my perspective of how I can pursue art and how I can share my passion for creating art. I cannot imagine any other profession I would rather be doing than pursuing a career into art.

After doing some freelance art I was looking for a more demanding job into art. My friend recommended I could investigate teaching art. I have taken many art classes in college, so it made sense to teach art especially for young students who are interested in computers and digital content. After learning and researching for hirings I found a job where I am teaching art at Crayola Imagine Arts Program. At the program I help teach students K-5 grade and helps them to teach diverse cultures and hot topic related events while making an art piece about that subject. The program goes and teaches students in community centers or schools of different cities around Los Angeles County. The advantages with teaching in this job is I can travel to different schools and community centers. I will see new students every month, so it makes it refreshing to see new students teach them.

Art is a wonderful way to express and display your creative for everyone to see. Learning about art allows students to know about what inspires them and encourage them to pursue art. Art should be available to everyone and art has always been used a visual language to display their imagination. Every student that comes into the classroom can create something or highlight a unique artistic perspective. My role as an educator is to guide each student and to help them with their creative process as they learn about the world around them. I will dedicate my artistic skills to teach each student foundational art skills so they might use them one day to broaden their learning. Whether it is learning about cultural differences or real-world topics, it is important to teach them foundational art skills and techniques that will empower the students to express ideas through fun and artistic projects.
